In these session we explored different mixed materials including warble and plastazote.
Week 1:
In week one we looked at different mixed materials and their activation/heating methods. We also looked at patterning, with different methods such as spiral and orange segments. We practiced patterning on vegetables, I used a potato.
Week 2:
In week two we looked at plastazote and using contact adhesive. We practiced four types of joins straight, box, 90 degree and curved join. Once we joined the pieces we painted the them with an acrylic latex mix.
Week 3:
In week three we experimented with using warbla. Which is a sheet of thermoplastic that can be modelled when heated with a heat gun. In the session we were allowed to experiment with creating forms out of the warble and adding texture with tools such as forks. I created an Elven tiara, which I then painted using acrylic paint.
Week 4:
In week four we caught up on any missed sessions and worked on our own projects. We got introduced to using fosshape and varaform which can be used to hold object by pulling them over the top of a shaped object. I also finished painting my warble piece and glued together my plastazote armour plate.
