Housewife 49 Part B

In this project we continued our Housewife 49 project, this time looking at specific characters in the film and developing costume designs for a stage production of the film.

Week 1:

In week 1 we created mind-maps for each character, Nora, Cliff, Will and a Child. Using a screening of the film to pick out information about the characters and their costuming. I then complied my own mind maps for each character to give myself a better understanding of each character.

Week 2 & 3:

In week 2 and 3 we began gathering images and creating mood boards for each character, we then presented these to the class. I made my own mood boards for each character, creating both general character mood-boards and specific garment moodboards. I particularly found the research into Wills army uniform interesting, finding real pieces on display in modern photographs.

Week 4:

In week 4 we began sketching, creating rough drawings. I looked particularly and characterisation and posture as this is something I was interested in improving during this project. I created many quick and longer sketches focusing on the posture of each character.

Week 5:

Week 5 was our final week. This week I created rough sketches for each character design. I then developed reference sheets for each character, including hair, makeup, fabrics and clothing pieces to help inform and support my designs.
