This project explores design costumes for normal people across different decades in history. Exploring stereotypes, unconscious bias and class depiction.
Week 1:
In week one we looked subgroups and connection through visual appearance. We created observational drawings of 'Normal People' in public, this allowed us to understand different groups better looking at posture and how people choose to wear their clothes.

Week 2:
We continued this first hand observational research on a trip to derby, looking more specifically at the groups of the mother, the teenager, the labourer and the professional.
Week 3:
In week three we completed research boards for our four archetypes, which we then discussed in class. Following my discussion I decided to design for the archetype of the professional looking specifically at Teachers.
Once I had decided on design for the teacher I did some more in-depth research and created my four designs. I'm happy with my designs however I ran out of time to colour them properly so I used colour and fabric samples to convey my ideas. If I had more time I would have liked to have completed the colour work on the designs.
