The films surrealist imagery and nonsensical storyline is intriguing to watch, the strange morphing images and story captivate ur imagination and make you question everything occurring on screen in front of you.
The iconic eye cutting scene is both intriguing and disturbing, it catches you off guard and makes you sit back and watch in horror. The use of the mirrored imagery of the eye and cloud is extremely clever and add to the how bizarre the sequence is. The clip of the eye being cut is disgusting to look at and would have been extremely gruesome and shocking to a contemporary audience.
The film is completely nonsensical, making it a fun watch as the craziness unfolds on screen, if you allow yourself to lean into the madness of the film. It is certainly an impressive reach into the surrealist genre for a film of its time, perfectly translating the surrealist art movement onto the screen.
