In the first three weeks we explored creative thinking, professional practice and design process.
Week 1
In week one we explored creative thinking, particularly interesting was how we use observation and analysis of the world around us to feed into our designs, giving them a grounding in the world around us helping to build depth.
Our workshop session allowed us to explore Nottingham and gather inspiration, investigating visual contrast and relationships in what surround us. In groups we created collages of relevant images. To consolidate my understanding I created my own collage from photos I had collected around Nottingham.
Week 2
In week 2 we looked at the design review and refine process. Creating groups of images that relate together to inspire further research.
Week 3
In week 3 we looked at professional practice, exploring costume designers Lez Brotherston and Sandy Powells reflections on design process. One piece of particularly interesting and useful advise from Lez Brotherston is to go back to the text when design and to always design with purpose.
