The project focused on creating shape and understanding the basics of a basic block pattern. Developing this to being able to create fitted garments and replicate garments by looking at them.

Week 1:

In week one of our project we created mini mannequins, these mannequins were used to help us develop of understanding of 3D form and how garments fit on the body. The mannequins were complicated to construct with many steps but it was a very rewarding outcome.

Week 2:

In week two we looked using darts to create shape. This week we constructed two mini bodices. The first bodice allowed us to experiment with pivoting darts, the second looked at using panels to remove the need for darts by creating shape through the panels.

Week 3:

In week three we looked at proper measurement taking practice to start preparing for part B of the project. When then worked on two more bodices, firstly intersecting darts and gathers and then buttons and necklines. We were then given a selection of images to replicate using the skills we had learnt.

Week 4:

In week four we began our waistcoat project. We created pattern blocks using our models measurements and altered the blocks. We then used these block to construct a toile of our waistcoat.

This week we also drew our technical drawings and wrote out our plan of action for the waistcoats.

Week 5:

In week five we fitted our toiles to our models and altered them for a better fit. We then translated these alterations into a new pattern which we could then use to construct our waistcoats. We also started the construction of our waistcoats this week.
